TROY, AL – In her sophomore season for Troy University, former Richard Winn softball-standout Bailey Taylor was named to the All-Sun Belt Second Team.
Taylor ranked fourth in the conference in RBIs with a team-high 40. She finished the season batting .310 with eight doubles and a team-high six home runs. Of Taylor’s six home runs, two were three-run shots and one was a grand slam.
Taylor’s sophomore on base percentage was .455, including two streaks of 17 or more games.
Head coach Beth Mullins said that Taylor’s award is well-earned. “[She has] been very consistent throughout the entire year and [has] helped this team reach new heights.
Troy entered the Sun Belt Conference Tournament as the No. 2 seed and opened play on May 9 against Coastal Carolina University. Coastal bested Troy in the tournament opener 4-2, and the Trojans were eliminated from tournament play after a 10-inning heartbreaker loss to Louisiana-Monroe.
Taylor recorded her ninth multi-hit game, going 2-4 against Lousiana-Monroe and extended her reached base streak to a team-high 18 games.
