YORK – Westwood Track and Field competed last Thursday in the Region 3-4A Championships at York High School. Westwood Mens Varsity topped York, South Pointe, Ridge View, Richland Northeast and Lancaster with a team score of 146.
Christian Horne, Paul McCants, Ronald Coates all secured individual first place finishes while Redhawk Relay 4×100, 4×400 and 4×800 mens teams all snagged first place finishes also. Sierra McCant finished first in high jump for the Lady Redhawks.
Redhawk Mens Results
Christian Horne placed first in the 200m at 22.02 followed by Jalen Brigman in third with a 23.05 personal record. Brigman also finished second in 100m with a personal record of 11.35.
Horne topped his field again in the 400m with a 48.48 personal record. Paul McCants finished second at 49.18.
McCants placed first in the 800m at 1:59.65 followed by Robert Johnson in third at 2:07.86 and Jordan Alexander-Coleman in fourth at 2:08.02.
The 4×100 relay team of Alonzo Conner, Sean Wise, Brigman and Horne placed first with a 43.43 time. Horne joined McCants, Robert Johnson and Rayshawn Floyd for a first place finsh in the 4×400. McCants, Johnson, Floyd and Alexander-Coleman secured first in the 4×800 at 8:34.56.
Ronald Coates placed first in shot put at 44-07.50. William Tyndall placed second in 1600m at 4:52.19 and Alexander-Coleman third at 4:59.28. Khalil Donald placed second in high jump at 5-11, a personal record for Donald. David Nelson placed third in 3200m with a personal record of 10:57.03.
Redhawk Womens Results
McCant topped the high jump field at 5-00.00 while Meera Rogers placed first in pole vault with a personal record of 7-06.00. Alanie Foster followed in second in pole vault at 7-00.00. Jahmera Trapp finished second in 100m with a 12.74 personal record and Foster placed second in the 1600m with a 5:51.49 finish.
Westwood’s 4×100 relay of Jahmera Trapp, Adaora Okeke, McCant and Kennedy Rivers finished second at 49.38. The 4×400 relay team of Halle Peniston, Amya Sims, Foster and Trapp also finished second at 4:21.86. Raniya Butler, Ashley McDonald, Tymia Lamb and Leayzia Shiver finished third in the 4×800 relay.
