Bengals receive post-season honors

BASEBALL – Post-season honors continue to pour in for Blythewood Baseball.

Landon Lucas, Josh Cowan, Zach Bailes, Nate Hinson and Davis Wright were All Region selections for 5A Region IV. John Lanier was named Region IV Player of the Year and head coach Banks Faulkner was named Region IV Coach of the Year.

Lanier played in the All Star selection game, while Cowan and Bailes played in the North-South All Star game and Faulkner coached the North team.

Bailes, Lucas and Lanier were named to the High School Sports Report 5A A-State team.

Faulkner was named 5A Coach of the Year by the South Carolina Coaches Association. Lanier and Lucas were named to the South Carolina Coaches Association 5A All-State team. Both players were also named to the Diamond Prospect Gold Glove Team, for players who excel defensively.

BOYS SOCCER – A slew of Bengals were named to the 5A Region IV All Region team: Jackson Gouvin, Will Monroe, Terry Watson, Vance Strobel, McLean Brown, Justin Ellis and Kalli Tallo. Paddy Orr was named Region IV Co-Player of the Year and head coach Peter Wittig was named Region Coach of the Year.

Orr was also named to the Clash of the Carolinas team and will play in the June 29 game at WakeMed Soccer Park’s Koka Booth Stadium in Cary, N.C

Parker

SOFTBALL – Grace Campbell, Kendall Parker, Emily Babbitt and Haley McCoy were named to the 5A Region IV All Region Team.

Parker and Babbitt were named to the High School Sports Report 5A All-State team.

Parker was also named to the as South Carolina Coaches Association 5A All-State team.

GIRLS SOCCER – Five Bengals were named to the 5A Region IV team: senior Abby Griffin, senior Claire Ellis, junior Ariana Paez, junior Claudia Watson and sophomore Lauren Hendry.
