HANAHAN – Westwood ended Spring Break with a big 18-6, five-inning win over Woodland at the Hanahan Invitational Tournament last Wednesday.
Redhawk bats rolled in the first, amassing 12 runs in the frame. Josh Wise led off with a single to right, and Joseph Bennett followed with a walk. Eddie Olmeda doubled to center, scoring Wise and Bennett. Later in the inning, BJ Williams knocked a grand slam to center to put the Redhawks up 10-0. Williams homered to center again in the bottom of the fifth for three more RBIs.
Wise and Joey Gonzales picked up three hits each. Williams, who batted 2-4, racked up eight RBIs in his four plate appearances.
John Janco earned the win on the mound for Westwood. He struck out four and allowed only seven hits in three plus innings.
Westwood ends their season short of a playoff bid.
