BATESBURG – Richard Winn bounced back impressively after last week’s big loss to the Griffins. Zack Taylor opened on the mound for the Eagles in the first of a back-to-back games with W.W. King on Friday. Taylor fanned 10 batters in a shutout performance, and RWA took the first game in a 13-0 beatdown.
Luke Martin, Cameron Bass and Will Carvalho drove in two RBIs each in the blow out win. Dru Caldwell, Brandon Miller, Taylor, Austin Lancaster, Jimmy McKeown and Hudson Wade each drove in a single run. Carvalho had three hits.
King’s offense produced more in the second game but still fell short, and the Eagles pulled out an 8-4 win. King put up a charge late in the game, but the Eagles secured the victory with a three-run inning in the bottom of the fifth.
McKeown had an RBI a double. Martin and Lancaster batted a run apiece. Wade got the starting nod on the mound in game two, pitched 6.2 innings and got the win. He gave up only three hits, four runs, two earned and struck out seven.
