BLYTHEWOOD – Blythewood softball notched their eighth win of the season last Friday against Sumter. The Bengals had a strong offensive start and didn’t look back in the 10-3 victory over the Fighting Gamecocks.
Emily Babbit went 3-4 on the night with a triple and a two-RBI double. Haley McCoy and Anna Fridricksson each had two hits. Savannah Coyne and Kalei Swanier each hit a two-RBI single. Kailey Shannon, Grace Campbell, and Lauren Hardy had one hit apiece. McCoy and Hardy each picked up an RBI. Campbell had three stolen bases.
Senior CIU-commit Kendall Parker picked up the win on the mound, facing 31 batters in seven innings. She allowed eight hits and two earned runs while striking out three.
The Bengals hosted Lugoff-Elgin on Wednesday, but fell in by one run. Blythewood held a 14-11 lead heading into the seventh, but Lugoff blazed back with four runs to take the lead. The Bengals were held scoreless in the bottom of the seventh to fall 15-14.
They’ll travel to Lugoff-Elgin on Friday for a 7:15 start.
