LANCASTER – After going 1-2 in their first full week of regular-season play, Westwood softball faced a tough Lancaster opponent Tuesday night and suffered a 16-0 loss.
Lancaster jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after one inning, added seven in the second, and finished the game off in the third with six more runs.
Marlena Perez got the start on the mound, facing 16 batters in two innings for the. Perez allowed four hits and struck out three. Koreena Scott came in for relief in the third and faced 11, allowing two hits and walking six in the six-run inning.
Emily Hedrick and Erin Wilson led the offensive efforts, each going 1-1. Hedrick picked up two bases on a double, but was left stranded.
Westwood hosted Rock Hill Wednesday, but scores were not available at press time. They face Ben Lippen tonight at home at 7.
