The Teacher Village does have potential to improve FCSD’s low teacher retention rate. However, the Teacher Village Project team still has much work ahead of them to meet County requirements before the requested tax breaks can even be considered. According to previous Council statements. The Village project is presently DOA in Council due to two key yet to be completed plan components. First, the county has yet to receive the requested County indemnification from potential lawsuits. Second, the County has yet to be presented with a specific and detailed project proposal. It is understandable that County Council cannot blindly approve any tax abatement request without resolution of the two aforementioned automatic roadblocks. Hopefully, The Village project team will be able to complete their required due diligence in the not too distant future.
