Blythewood, Westwood track and field compete in Clash of the Carolinas

WAXHAW, NC – Track and field teams from Blythewood and Westwood traveled to compete in the Clash of the Carolinas on March 16.

Blythewood’s boys team finished third place out of 32 with 43 points while the girls team finished with 28 points, good enough for eighth out of 26.

Payton Manuel and Randy Kelly added eighth points each for the Bengals with their three-way tie for first in the high jump, each reaching 6’2”. Sophomore Chad Ishmael finished third with his 20’2” mark in long jump, contributing six points. The Bengals boys 4×100 relay team finished in third with six points; the 4×400 team finished in sixth place to add three more. In shot put, Nick Rogers placed second at the 50’ 7.50” for eight points; Patrick Godbolt placed sixth at 42’ 11.50” for three points, and Jayden Addison added a point with his eighth place finish at 41’ 0”.

The 4×100 team of Sharell Cherry, Sharetha Odom, Briana Green and Teuana Thomas finished third, notching 6 points for the Lady Bengals. The 4×400 team of Maya Walker, Jordyn Benson, LatTavia Bracey-Ranson, and Arianna Williams added six more with their third place finish. Blythewood girls 4×200 relay team picked up five points with their fourth place finish. Sophomore Teleah Moorer picked up two points for the Lady Bengals with her eighth place finish in the 300 meter hurdles. Junior Kayla Ulmer finished fifth in the triple jump at 34’ 6.25” for four points. Chisom Emetu placed fifth in shot put with a 31’ 9.50” mark for four points.

Westwood’s boys tied for eleventh place with 24 points and the girls finished in a three-way tie for 19th with 4 points.

The Westwood boys picked up eight points with their second-place finish in the 4×800 relay with a time of 8:30.38, just eight seconds out of first place. Senior Paul McCants picked up 10 points for Westwood with his first place finish in 800 meters, and finished fifth in the 400 meter to add 4 more points to the team total.

Westwood’s Meera Rogers snagged three points with her sixth place finish in pole vault at the 7’0”.

Blythewood track and field will host a home meet on March 27. Westwood will host their second home meet of the season on April 3.
