Jayden Addision, Brady Carson, Patrick Godbolt, Jakob Owens, Kayla Reese, Nic Rogers, Quinton Patten, and Collin Williams | Blythewood High School
BLYTHEWOOD — Blythewood High School recognized eight members of the Class of 2019 as they celebrated National Signing Day by announcing their plans to continue their athletic careers on the collegiate level. Seven football players and one girl’s soccer player were recognized.
Jayden Addison, son of James and Nadia Addison, announced his commitment to continue his foot- ball career at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina. Addison, a lineman for head coach Jason Seidel at Blythewood, earned All-Region honors his senior year for the Bengals. Addi- son was also named the team’s Lineman of the Year and was selected to play in the Columbia Metro Bowl this postseason.
Brady Carson, son of David and Michele Carson, signed to continue his football career at Newberry University in Newberry, South Carolina. Carson, a linebacker for head coach Jason Seidel at Blythewood, led the Bengals in tackles this past season with 88. Carson earned All-Region honors as a senior and was named the team’s Defensive Player of the Year. Carson was selected as a team captain in the Columbia Metro Bowl this postseason.
Patrick Godbolt, son of Walker and Betty Godbolt, signed to continue his football career at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Godbolt, a defensive end and linebacker for head coach Jason Seidel, earned three varsity letters in his time at Blythewood High School. Godbolt earned All-Region honors his senior year and was selected as the Co-Region Defensive Player of the Year. Godbolt led the team with seven-and-a-half sacks and 16.5 tackles for a loss of 61 yards.
Jakob Owens, son of Rebekah Gawinski, signed to continue his football career at Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina. Owens, a slot receiver for head coach Jason Seidel, was among the team’s leaders this past season with 413 all-purpose yards. Owens had 303 yards receiving with a touchdown. He also served as the team’s punter and one of the team’s kick returners.
Quinton Patten, son of David and Galiena Patten, signed to continue his football career at the Uni- versity of North Carolina at Charlotte. Patten, a quarterback for head coach Jason Seidel, averaged 60 yards rushing per game in an injury-shortened season.
Kayla Reese, daughter of Reginald and LaToya Reese, signed to continue her soccer career at Charleston Southern University in Charleston, South Carolina. Reese, a defender for head coach Kathy Knight, has earned All-Region honors each of the last three years for the Bengals. Reese has also been the recipient of the Coaches Award at Blythewood each of the last two seasons.
Nic Rogers, son of Nygel Rogers and Teika Burroughs, signed to continue his football career at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. Rogers, a defensive end for head coach Jason Seidel, was among the team’s leaders this season with 42 total tackles. Rogers, an All-Region selection, had 10.5 tackles-for-a-loss of 62 yards as a senior. Rogers also led the team with six quarterback hurries.
Collin Williams, son of Greg and Jenne Williams, signed to continue his football career at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Williams, a strong safety and outside linebacker for head coach Jason Seidel, earned All-Region honors and was awarded with the team’s Leadership Award during his senior season. Williams totaled 51 tackles and four pass break-ups his senior year.
