Bengals honor seniors in final home games

BLYTHEWOOD – The Blythewood Bengals hosted Spring Valley on Senior Night to decide the rightful owner of the Region 4-5A Crown. Spring Valley led by eight at halftime and maintained their lead through the third quarter. The Bengals nearly evened things up in the fourth quarter, but the Vikings shut down the come back and won the region title 60-50 victory.

Tre Jackson led the Bengals in scoring with 15, and Julian Phillips had 10. Spring Valley’s Joshua Felder had a game high 21.

The Bengals, a No. 3 seed, faced off against top-seeded Berkeley on Wednesday night for the opening round of the 5A State Playoffs. Berkeley took the 60-49 win, eliminating the Bengals from the playoffs.

The Lady Bengals were out of playoff contention going into their matchup against the dominant Lady Vikings. Blythewood outpaced the Vikings in the first and fourth quarter, but they were outscored 58-15 in the second and third quarters. Alexis Mims had 12, and Lakyra Weeks had seven points and six rebounds.
