WINNSBORO – The Winnsboro Cotillion presented one debutante and recognized two sons Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the 64th annual Winter Ball. At a reception prior to the ball, Mr. Samuel Berry Arnette, Jr., president, and Mrs. Arnette; Mr. Jonathan McCoy Goode, president-elect, and Mrs. Goode; the debutante, and her sponsoring grandparents received members and guests.
The debutante was presented by her father and then performed the traditional debutante figure with her escort and marshal. The debutante carried the Winnsboro Cotillion signature bouquet of pale pink roses, pink lisianthus, miniature orchids, freesia and greenery, clustered in an embossed silver holder. Following the debutante figure and grand march, members and guests of the cotillion enjoyed an evening of dining and dancing.
Miss Alyssa Keely Atkerson is the daughter of Mr. Kenneth Ray Atkerson, Jr. and Mrs. Shannon Cooper Ramsden. Miss Atkerson was sponsored by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ray Atkerson, Sr. Miss Atkerson is also the granddaughter of Ms. Diane Jeffers. Miss Atkerson’s escort was Mr. Bryant Joseph Carvalho and her marshal was Mr. John Estes Coleman. Miss Atkerson attends the University of South Carolina and is majoring in elementary education.
Sons of Winnsboro Cotillion members invited to attend their first ball were Mr. Bryant Joseph Carvalho and Mr. Patrick Jayroe Johnson. Mr. Carvalho is the son of Mr. and Mrs. José Antonio Pires De Carvalho and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Rufff Traylor and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joaquim Carvalho. Mr. Carvalho attends the University of South Carolina and is majoring in Political Science. Mr. Johnson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Evan Johnson, Sr. and the grandson of Mrs. Thomas Patrick Matthews and the late Mr. Matthews and the late Mr. and Mrs. Evander Jordan Johnson. Mr. Johnson attends the Citadel and is majoring in history.
