MYRTLE BEACH – The Westwood Redhawks opened the Beach Ball Classic with a tough lost against the Miami Stingrays, and they looked to rebound in round two against the Northview Titans from Johns Creek, Georgia. The Class 7-A ranked Titans out battled Westwood for a 58-46 win. The two losses marked the first back-to-back losses for Westwood since December 2016.
Nyah Leveretter added another double-double to her stat sheet in the loss. She had 14 points and 13 rebounds. Unique Drake was the only other Redhawk in double digits with 10 points. Essence Marshall had nine. Northview’s Ashlee Austin had a game high 20 points.
After the loss to Northview, the Redhawks found themselves matched up against the Myrtle Beach Seahawks for their final game of the tournament. The Seahawks kept the game close, but Westwood put the brakes on the two-game losing streak with a 57-52 win.
