ANDERSON – The Richard Winn boys held off a talented Anderson Christian last week, and on Tuesday night the two teams collided again. RWA jumped out to an early lead, but a second-half Anderson surge propelled the Lions to a 54-31 win.
Darius Boyd and Dru Caldwell sank a three-pointer apiece in the opening quarter, and Richard Winn led 11-8 after the first quarter. Caldwell and Hudson Wade led the team in scoring with eight points. Boyd had seven. The Eagles only managed five points in the second quarter, but the defense held up enough to keep the game tied at 16 at halftime.
Anderson Christian broke the flood gates with a big third quarter. Dre Washington had seven points, and was one of four Lions to score in the third period. RWA trailed 30-21 when the fourth quarter began.
The Lions came on strong in the fourth and sank five three-pointers, outscoring Richard Winn 24-10 in the final eight minutes. Anderson’s Dre Washington added seven more points to his total in the fourth and his 18-point performance was enough to lead all scorers.
