COLUMBIA – The Westwood and Blythewood boys cross country teams both turned in top ten performances at their respective State championship qualifiers. The Bengals placed fourth as a team and Alan Deogracias led the way with a third overall finish. The Redhawks wrapped the sixth spot, and Paul McCants was the top Westwood runner with his eighth place finish.
Daniel Turnipseed also turned in a solid performance for the Bengals and wrapped up the day in the 12th position. Jordan Alexander-Coleman was the next highest finisher for Westwood and he came in at 29th.
The Westwood ladies finished 12th with Alanie Foster as the top runner with 16th place finish. The Lady Bengals claimed 13th; Madison Wakefield had the highest finish on the team.
Runners from both boys’ teams will compete in the State meet on Saturday at Sandhills Research Center. Blythewood will begin at 12:00 and Westwood at 12:30.
