Warriors best Griffins

FORT MILL – The Fairfield Central Griffins traveled to Fort Mill on Thursday in search of their third win of the season and their second region 4-3A win against the Indian Land Warriors. The Griffins were in striking range, but a pair of field goals proved to be the difference in the Warriors 13-7 win.

The Warriors struck first after a monster drive late in the first quarter. Grayson Barber’s one-yard rushing touchdown ended a 93-yard drive, and gave Indian Land the 7-0 advantage. The Griffins knotted things up later on a one-yard Will Barber touchdown.

Indian Land snatched the lead back before halftime after Brandon Dickerson split the uprights on a 32-yard field goal. A Stephon Gadsden interception in the third quarter led to a Dickerson’s second and final field goal of the night. The 40-yard field goal put the Griffins in a 13-7 hole they were not able to answer.

The Griffins will travel to Pendleton on Nov. 9 for their opening round playoff matchup against the Pendleton Bulldogs.
