BLYTHEWOOD – Last week, The Westwood Redhawks girls’ basketball program secured The Turkey Shootout Championship and Unique Drake was named tournament MVP. They parlayed that success into a successful home opener on Tuesday night against White Knoll. White Knoll was only able to score double digits in one quarter, and the Redhawks blasted them to the tune of a 77-29 win.
Drake had a double-double with 13 points, 10 steals, four rebounds and three assists. Essence Marshall chipped in 17 points, but Nyah Leveretter had a game high 18. She also racked up 11 rebounds, six steals and four assists.
The Timberwolves only trailed 13-11 after the first quarter, but by halftime they were down 32-17, and by the opening of the fourth quarter they were staring down a 52-25 hole.
The Redhawks travel to Winnsboro tonight for a 6:00 matchup with Fairfield Central.
