WINNSBORO – Former Griffin gridiron stars Devontre Parnell and Stan Davis are headed to professional football organizations. The Brisbane Rhinos, an Australian football club that’s part of the Gridiron Queensland League, announced the signing of Parnell on their Facebook page. Parnell, a former Fairfield Central cornerback, played college ball at Louisville then played as a graduate transfer at Southern Mississippi University.
Davis, another defensive stalwart, is also head to the pros but he will not know his landing spot until Sept.15. He has been invited to the Rivals Professional Football League Draft, and all players invited are guaranteed to hear their name called. The RPFL has four teams in Atlanta, four in Miami and four in Detroit.
