COLUMBIA – Landon Lucas made quite the impression on the baseball diamond this season, and for his hard work, earned the most fan votes for The State newspaper’s Player of the Year. Lucas held an excellent .390 average with six home runs, 31 RBIs and went 5-1 on the mound with a 2.29 ERA.
Lucas’ teammates John Lanier and Ben Lang-Spittler were named to the list of the All-Midlands team honorable mentions, as were Bengal softball stars Grace Campbell and Samantha Hall. Westwood’s Matthew Oxendine also earned an honorable mention.
