WINNSBORO – The Fairfield County Recreation All-Star teams hit North Augusta and Chapin this weekend for the South Carolina Recreation Baseball Initiative All-Star tournaments and brought two championship trophies back home.
The 10U squad was eliminated early by a tough Chapin American team, but the 8U and 12U squads hoisted the gold at the end of the weekend. Brody Price hit an extra inning walk off run in the 8U championship game that locked up a 5-4 win against Mt.Pleasant-Red.
Fairfield’s 12U team knocked Charleston Peninsula, Aiken-Red and Newberry out of bracket play before they squeezed out Daniel Island, 7-4, in the tourney final to lay claim on the gold.
