The Westwood Boys dominated this weekend’s Class 4A State Track Qualifiers, and took home their second consecutive Region 3-4A Title. Montre Miller, Trini Feggett, Dermonti Romey and Torran Goings won the 4X100 relay championship. Miller was also the 100M champion, Feggett was the 200M and long jump champion and Goings was also part of the 4X400 relay champion team with Malik Donald and Christian Horn.
Horn also took home the 400M championship. Brian Horn finished at the top of the heap in the 110 hurdles, Syncere Simon was crowned High Jump Champion and Treshawn Miller finished first in the discus throw.
Paul McCants, Laronnie Davis, Jordan Alexander Coleman and Rashawn Floyd topped Beaufort for the 4X800 Relay Championship. McCants also won the 800M and 1600M Championships.
The Lady Redhawks finished five points from a region championship of their own. Jasmine Brown, Keionna Ray, Eseose Okoduwa and Jahmera Trapp earned the 4X100 relay championship.
Brown also clinched first place the long jump and 100M competitions. Alanie Foster took the top spot in the 1600M championship and Kayla Racine followed suit in the shotput championship.
Robert Braswell was only competitor from Blythewood High School to bring home a first place finish in the 5A State qualifier. His 6-08.00 was good enough to earn the high jump crown. Fellow Bengal Kayal Ulmer took home fourth in the 400M hurdles.
Fairfield Central’s Wesley Benbow clocked in at fourth in the 3A Upper State 100M dash finals. He also finished third in the 200M finals. The Griffins’ boys 4X100M relay team finished just a second off the top spot, but handily finished in second place. Jordan Boyd finished fourth place in the long jump finals.
The Lady Griffins 4x100M relay team also fared well. Their time of 50.08 was good enough for a third place finish. China Woodard snagged a fourth place finished the 100M finals and finished fourth in the long jump finals.
