BLYTHEWOOD – It’s Spring Break at Blythewood High School, and while students enjoy their much needed vacation, baseball teams and fans from around the state are gathering in Blythewood for the 2018 South Carolina Diamond Invitational (SCDI).
This year’s field is as stout as ever and boasts four former SCDI champions, including the reigning 2017 champs, T.L. Hanna. Seven of the eight teams are ranked in the Baseball Coaches’ Association’s top-10 poll.
The North Augusta Yellow Jackets, Spartanburg Vikings and Chapin Eagles are new additions to this year’s field.
The defending champs, T.L. Hanna leads off the tournament Thursday at noon against Chapin. Blythewood gets their first taste of action in game four at 7:30 P.M. against Spartanburg and take on Chapin Friday at 4 p.m.
Saturday at 4 P.M, BSN Sports will present the Home-Run Derby and Base-Running Completion. The Bengals get a shot at T.L. Hanna at 5:30 after the BSN showcase. The fourth place game will follow the Bengals and T.L. Hanna matchup.
Sunday will be filled with championship action. First, at 9 a.m., two teams will compete for the third place spot and the consolation game will be played at 11:30 a.m. The game to crown this year’s SCDI champion is set for Sunday at 2 P.M.
