BLYTHEWOOD – The third class of the Blythewood High School Education Foundation Order of the Bengal was inducted Thursday, April 12 at Doko.
The purpose of the Order of the Bengal recognizes individuals in the Blythewood community, outstanding Bengal alumni, and current or former faculty and staff who have significantly and positively contributed to Blythewood High School. The Order of the Bengal was established in 2016. The Order of the Bengal is coordinated by the Blythewood High School Education Foundation.
Scott Auspelmyer – Current BHS Social Studies teacher, recognized as a National Council for the Social Studies Secondary Teacher of Excellence.
Chris Basquill – BHS class of 2006, earned the school’s first military academy appointment, attending the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Dr. Steve Hefner – Former Superintendent of Richland School District Two who was instrumental in bringing a high school back to the Blythewood community.
Patrick Kelly – Current BHS Social Studies teacher, district teacher of the year, state teacher of the year finalist, 2016-17 Dept. of Education Ambassador Fellow
Nick Metrakos – BHS class of 2008 who distinguished himself through his work with community service while at BHS also serving on the State Farm Service Learning board.
Lynne Moore – Liaison for Freshmen At Blythewood students in 2004-05, and after BHS opened, served as Chair of the SIC, a member of the Education Foundation Board, and was instrumental in BHS receiving the 2007 Red Carpet Award.
Mike Nicholson – Beloved volunteer whose four children graduated from BHS, and who has been a major behind the scenes contributor for many athletic and JROTC events including being the gate keeping at football games and helping with man fund raisers.
Jackie Parnell – BHS class of 2008 who was Mr. Blythewood, Salutatorian, class speaker, and a National Achievement Finalist.
Hunter Watkins – BHS class of 2007 who was the school’s first individual state champion, winning the 2007 state golf tournament.
Ruby Williams – Beloved volunteer who has coordinated concessions for many BHS athletic events since 2008.
