BLYTHEWOOD – Sydney Jordan Burnsed, 20, of Blythewood, died Sunday, March 25, 2018. Born in Columbia, on January 30, 1998, she was a daughter of John Dennis and Shelley Graham Burnsed.
Sydney was a 2016 graduate of Blythewood High School where she lettered in softball. She grew up playing softball for several travel teams throughout the state. Sydney loved the outdoors; especially when she had the opportunity to hunt and fish. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her friends, and great music. She volunteered at the Kershaw County Humane Society. Sydney was always on the go, never meeting a stranger along her way. She was an active member of NewSpring Church in Columbia, where she was a youth leader. As a youth leader, she mentored teens during several Gauntlet Fuse Ministry trips. She also routinely spent time working in the nursery. Sydney was a sophomore at Midlands Technical College pursing a nursing degree, and had most recently been working as a nanny for Whaley and the Boozer family.
In addition to her parents of Blythewood, Sydney is survived by her sister, Chelsea Owen; maternal grandmother, Janet “JJ” Graham; paternal grandfather, Robert Burnsed; aunts, Melanie Davis and Wendy Sanders (Tim); uncles, Robert, Rick, and Donnie Bell, Charlie and Herbie Burnsed; close friends, Blythe, Missy, and Taylor Clementi, Rose Boozer(Will) and their daughter, Whaley; and numerous cousins; and her two doggies, Lily and Colby.
The service for Sydney will be held at 12 o’clock, Friday, March 30th at NewSpring Church, 657 Bush River Rd, Columbia, with Pastor Robbie Green officiating. Burial will follow in Centerville Cemetery, Ridgeway. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 until 7 o’clock at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia.
