WINNSBORO – Fairfield County Museum Director Pelham Lyles visits with Bill Edwards under the ferro concrete ‘mushrooms’ behind Sion Church in downtown Winnsboro. Edwards’ grand uncle, James Minor Workman, was the architect who designed the ‘mushrooms’ as prototypes for service stations that were constructed across the nation in the beginning days of America’s love affair with the automobile. Edwards, who lives in Hendersonville, was in town to deliver some family historical items for a museum collection.
