BLYTHEWOOD – This week, the Redhawks suffered coaching losses on the gridiron and on the basketball court. First, Redhawks defensive coordinator James Reynold departed to take over as head football coach for the Ben Lippen Falcons, then head basketball coach Jeff Dibattisto stepped down to accept a position as Athletic Director at Dreher.
Reynolds had been at Westwood since the beginning of the 2016 season, but prior to his stint as Redhawk, he was the Assistant Coach at Ben Lippen. A familiar face in the Blythewood football community is slated to take his place. Former Bengals’ defensive coordinator Tom Butler was named his successor.
Dibattisto is fresh off of leading the Redhawk boys’ basketball program to their most successful season in school history. Aside from their solid 19-7 overall record, he guided the boys to a share of their first ever region title and snagged Westwood their first two playoff victories.
Dibattisto spent two seasons as the Dreher head basketball coach from 2013 to 2015.
