WINNSBORO – In a hastily scheduled special called meeting on Monday night, County Council passed a resolution authorizing the approval and execution of a letter of intent between the County and CS Industrial, LLC of North Carolina. Council also passed first reading on an ordinance authorizing the County to convey all or a portion of the County’s spec building in the Walter Brown Industrial Park to CS Industrial for the sum of $2.2 million.
The vote was taken in public session after Council came out of executive session.
While excitement is brewing among County officials that it has a prospective buyer for the 75,000 square foot spec building that was completed in 2014, County Council Chairman Billy Smith said nothing is final until after two more readings.
The County’s Economic Development Director, Ty Davenport, said he is hopeful that the sale goes through, but acknowledges that any deal like this is tenuous.
A second reading on the sale is set for Feb. 12 in Council Chambers. A public hearing will be held at third reading on Feb. 26.
