LEXINGTON – The Blythewood Lady Bengals took to Lexington on Friday in search of their first regional win of the season, but the Dutch Fork Silver Foxes had other plans. The Bengal offense struggled out of the gates, and Dutch Fork capitalized with a 58-37 win.
The Lady Bengals kept it close in a defensive first quarter, and, despite only scoring seven, they only trailed by four points after the first.
A meager three-point second quarter allowed the Silver Foxes to pounce, and the Bengals never recovered. Dutch Fork put 18 in the second.
Both teams scored 20 in the third, and Blythewood only managed a seven-point quarter again in the fourth. Dutch Fork’s Madison Golden reamed the Bengals for 22 points and Katrice Jackson had 18.
Alexis Mims led the way for Blythewood with 14.
The Bengals are back in action on Feb. 2 against the Lexington Wildcats, then travel to White Knoll on Feb. 6 and finish up at home against Spring Valley on Feb.9.
