BLYTHEWOOD – The Lady Bengals closed out their season with a 67-29 loss to the region champion Spring Valley Vikings.
Spring Valley jumped out to a big 23-4 lead in the first quarter and didn’t look back. Though Blythewood managed to triple that output in the second, the Lady Vikings still outscored them by nine. The Lady Bengals headed to the locker room with an 18-46 deficit.
Spring Valley’s offensive output in the first half was too much for the Lady Bengals to recover, and the second half had a similar outcome.
Ashley Williams led Spring Valley with 26 points. Taylor Lewis added 15 points.
Alexis Mims had 14 points for Blythewood, which finishes the season 3-19 overall and 2-10 in the region.
The season was lackluster as far as wins were concerned, but the young Bengals have a good start so long as they can put in the offseason effort for next year.
“I’m excited about our youth and the experience they gained this year,” Blythewood head coach Steve Inabinet said. “They may be a year ahead, because they had to play varsity as freshman and a couple of sophomores. If they stick with us and go through preseason conditioning, the future looks very bright for us.”
