RIDGEWAY – With still over a week before the filling deadline, four candidates have declared for the two seats on Ridgeway Town Council that will be on the ballot April 3. Those candidates are Roger Herring, Rick Johnson, Dan Martin and Rufus Jones. Terms for the two seats are ending for Councilmen Heath Cookendorfer and Doug Porter.
According to Town Clerk Vivian Case, no one at this time has filed to run for mayor.
Both the council seats and the mayor’s seat are for four year terms. Candidates have until noon on Friday, Feb. 2 to file at the Ridgeway Town Hall/Century House, 170 Dogwood Street in Ridgeway. Filing fee for the office of council is $15 and for mayor, $25. The election is nonpartisan, and no party affiliation will be placed on the ballot.
The election will be held on Tuesday, April 3, at the Ridgeway Fire Department, 170 S. Palmer Street. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. that day.
Those desiring to vote in the upcoming election must be registered by March 5, 2018, at the Fairfield County Board of Voter Registration, 315 S. Congress Street in Winnsboro.
