WINNSBORO – It was a one-sided matchup when the Lady Eagles hosted region opponent Anderson Christian on Tuesday. The Lady Eagles dominated on both ends of the court and came away with a 54-3 win. Anderson Christian’s Anna Hicks hit a three in the first quarter, and then the Eagles shut down the Lion offense for the remainder of the game.
Eleven Eagles tallied points in the scoring fest. Senior Lydia Wilder led the scoring effort with 10, followed by Meredith Pope, Kaitlyn Thoma and Taylor Spires, each with 8.
Spires had a big defensive night with 10 rebounds and 4 steals. Wilder followed with seven rebounds and a steal. Cassie McKeown and Rayne Williams had nine and seven boards, respectively. Emma Castles had four steals, and five other Lady Eagles stole the ball at least once from a Lady Lion.
The Lady Eagles took down region opponents Newberry Academy, 49-44, on Friday and Cambridge Academy, 54-32, on Monday. They look to avenge their sole region loss when they travel to Laurens on Friday.
