LAURENS – Richard Winn downed Laurens Academy in their first matchup, and Friday night they looked to take the season sweep in Laurens. The Laurens’ defense decided the game late, and the Crusaders tied the season series with a 45-33 win.
A staunch defensive battle in the first quarter fell in the favor of the Eagles, and RWA was ahead by one at the end of the first. Joshua Moore’s nine-point second quarter sparked the Crusaders to a 26-19 lead at halftime. Moore had a game high 20 points.
Hudson Wade led the Eagles in the third quarter with five points, and they nailed three of their four free-throw opportunities. After the third, Richard Winn had drawn within four, but the Crusaders defense closed the door in the fourth.
A Noah Edwards shot from beyond the arc marked the only Richard Winn points in the fourth. Crusader Noah Moore had five points in the fourth quarter alone to seal the deal.
The Eagles travel to Anderson Christian Friday.
