CHARLESTON – Unique Drake, stand-out Westwood point guard, notched a seriously impressive feat at this year’s Carolina Invitational. Drake became the first Redhawk in school history to score 1,000 points on the court via a 28-point performance against Wyoming East on Dec. 28.
Even more impressive, Drake is just a junior. She earned a spot on the South Carolina Basketball Coaches All-State team last season and was named in this year’s preseason Elite Five. She’s averaged 21.7 points per game and 4.8 assists so far this season.
“She’s very much deserving,” Bauldrick said. “She probably has the potential by the time she graduates from here to be a 2,000-point scorer on the glide path that she’s on. That was a big moment for her. She never really talked about it, but she knew it was there.”
Drake was honored at the Redhawks’ home game against York on Jan. 9.
