WINNSBORO – Ruth Hicks Williams died on December 2, 2017. She was born on Christmas Day 1929 to Robert Augusta and Pearl Buckalew Hicks of Cullman, Alabama. She was one of seven children who lived off the land and worked hard for what they had. In 1946 she married Cephus Willard Williams and they relocated to Greenville County, South Carolina and raised two daughters.
Widowed in 1990, she moved to Fairfield County in 1998 to be near her younger daughter. With a lifelong strong love of animals, she fostered and adopted several homeless pets over her lifetime, and until her recent illness and death, she fostered many homeless pets for Make A Friend In Animals (M.A.F.I.A.), a pet rescue of which her daughter is President and a foster parent.
Mrs. Williams is predeceased by her husband and her daughter, Vicki of North Augusta. She is survived by her daughter, Terri Williams of Fairfield County. Special thanks is extended to Dr. Christopher Ballou of Three Rivers Medical Associates and Providence and Baptist Medical Centers of Columbia, as well as Rachel Murphy, who assisted in the home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Williams were held on December 6th, 2017 at Crooked Run Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Tommy Hutto. She was entombed at Cannon Memorial Park in Fountain Inn, SC.
