COLUMBIA – Friday, the Westwood Lady Redhawks continued their streak of dominance in a road matchup against the Spring Valley. Westwood improved to 7-0, but not without a tough fight from the Vikings. Spring Valley led 23-19 after one half, but the Redhawks proved to be too much and escaped with a 55-48 win.
Maliyah Lockett led the way for Westwood with 14 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals. Unique Drake had 12 points and four rebounds to go along with Nyah Leveretter’s seven points and seven rebounds.
The Westwood boys were not as lucky against the Vikings. A day after their win over Keenan at the Bojangles Bash, they fell 59-50 at Spring Valley.
The Lady Redhawks take on White Knoll High School tonight at 6 and will play in the Cardinal Newman Showcase on Saturday, Dec. 16 before breaking for the holidays. They will return in January to face the Fairfield Central Griffins in Winnsboro on January 3.
