NEWBERRY – Fairfield Central opened their Tuesday night road game at Willie L. Scott Sr. Gym against the Newberry Bulldogs and ended the first quarter with a 15-14 advantage, but it would not last. The hosting Bulldogs went on a 27-to-eight point run in the second quarter.
The Griffins could not recover from the devastating onslaught in the second and dropped the game 85-46. Newberry’s bench was nearly impeccable and outscored the Griffins’ second string by a staggering 46-18.
The big loss to Newberry was not how the Griffins wanted to start their week after ending last week with a big loss to Westwood. The Redhawks handed the visiting Griffins a devastating 61-39 loss.
