Sweet Pea’s Ice Cream Parlor opened in Blythewood in July and last week the store captured the coveted Golden Spatula Award and was featured on WLTX-TV. “We are thrilled!” said store owner Susan DeMarco (at right, with WLTX’s Sonia Gutierrez). “The award is presented to an eating establishment that has received a 100 percent rating on their Department of Health and Environmental Control inspection. And we won it!” While Sweet Pea’s is primarily an ice cream store – offering 25 flavors of the sweet treat, milk shakes and sundaes – it also serves hotdogs, homemade chili, nachos and soft pretzels as well as coffee, cappuccino, chai tea latte, homemade pies and muffins. Sweat Pea’s is located at 412 McNulty Road.
