DUE WEST, S.C. – William (Bill) Kilpatrick Jordan Jr., 95, passed away Aug. 10, 2016, in Due West, S.C. where he was a resident of Wylie Care Assisted Living at The Renaissance Retirement Community. Prior to his stay at Wylie he lived in his beloved community of White Oak, S.C. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years Jean Bohler Jordan.
Born in Wrens, Ga., Sept. 11, 1920, he was the son of the late William Kilpatrick Jordan Sr. and Marjorie Holt Jordan.
Bill was a 1939 North Georgia Military College graduate and served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942 until 1946. He was a charter member of the Lyndon Grove ARP Church in Augusta, Ga. where for 40 years he served faithfully as a deacon, elder and church treasurer. Upon moving to White Oak, S.C. in 2001 he became an active member of the White Oak ARP Church where he also served as elder.
In 1956 he established Jordan Hardware which served the North Augusta, S.C. community for over 30 years. He was an active member of Lions International Service Organization and the American Legion for over 50 years. He was also a faithful member of Gideons International. Bill served on the Board of Directors of the United Methodist White Oak Campground located near Harlem, Ga. for 25 years. Bill is fondly remembered by many whose lives he touched during his years as a church, community and service organization member, businessman and patriarch of his beloved family.
He is survived by two children, Herbert K. Jordan (Effie) of Due West, S.C. and Elizabeth Patrick (Harmon) of White Oak, S.C.; one granddaughter Reid Patrick Warren (Todd) and great granddaughter Avery Jordan Warren. Other surviving family members include a sister Eugenia Chappell of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., brothers Paxton Jordan (Faye) of Foley, Ala., and Andrew Jordan (Susan) of Memphis, Tenn. He was predeceased by three siblings Betty Smith, Hopie McElreath Lee and Susie Turner Jordan.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016 at 3 p.m. at the White Oak ARP Church, White Oak, S.C. with family friend and pastor Dr. Clyde McCants officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. Following the burial the family will receive family and friends in the church fellowship hall. The family is at the home of Elizabeth and Harmon Patrick, White Oak, S.C.
