COLUMBIA – Charles Clinton “Clint” Cobb, 24, of Columbia, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born July 24, 1991, he was the beloved son of Miriam Cary Cobb of Columbia and Owens Taylor “Trey” Cobb III of Lake Wateree. Clint attended Columbia public schools and was a member of Dreher High School Class of 2010 where he was on the wrestling team. He was a proud member of the Lake Wateree Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, 8346 Men’s Auxiliary and was employed by U-Haul of Columbia. Clint was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed sailing, fishing and skiing at Lake Wateree. A member of the APA of the Midlands, Clint enjoyed playing pool.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his sister, Leah Kathryn Cobb; aunts, Kathryn Turine Cobb, Jolene Cobb Plyler and her husband, Jospeh Aaron Plyler IV, and Margie Hetrick, all of Columbia, and Melba Black of Portsmouth, Va.; uncle, Walker Ennis Cobb and his wife, Kristen Cobb, of Mt. Pleasant; and great-uncle, Earl Black of Winnsboro; along with many cousins and friends who mourn his loss. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Jacqueline Oswald Cobb and Judge Owens Taylor Cobb Jr.; maternal grandparents, Helen and Woodrow Cary; and aunt, Margaret Bass, all of Columbia.
The funeral service for Mr. Cobb will be held 3 o’clock, Wednesday, March 2 at Main Street United Methodist Church, with Dr. Robert Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Wright, Robert Jobsis, James Barrens, Garrett Owens, Bryce Hannah, Scott Carter, Jorge Rosario, David Templeton, Adam Keen and Cameron Hamilton. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock, Tuesday, March 1 at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext, Columbia, and at other times at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Plyler IV, 1512 Westminster Drive, Columbia. Memorials may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church, 1830 Main St., Columbia, S.C. 29201, or to a charity of one’s choice.
