Marion Frazier

LEXINGTON – Memorial services for Francis Marion Frazier, 90, formerly of Blair, S.C. were held on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015 at Christ Central Ministries, 235 Congress St. in Winnsboro conducted by the Rev. James Burroughs. The family received friends after the service at Mission Ridge, 600 S. Congress St., Winnsboro.

Mr. Frazier died on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015. Born in Clinton, S.C., he was the son of the late James Blair and Frances Copeland Frazier Jr. He attended Northwestern University in Chicago and graduated from Presbyterian College. While there he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. Mr. Frazier was very active in his community. He was a member of the S.C. Housing Authority for 59 years, and was a privileged member of the Winnsboro Lions Club since 1947. Marion was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church until 1982 and for many of those years served as its Sunday School Treasurer. He served as Boy Scout Leader, and was an Eagle Scout. Mr. Frazier served in the United States Navy as Lt. Commander and member of the Naval Reserves for 25 years. Marion served as President of Frazier Pulpwood Company, Inc. from 1964, upon the death of his father, to the present; and, he was appointed by the S.C. Forestry Commission in 1957 to serve as Chairman of the Fairfield County Forestry Board where he served faithfully until 2013.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Odom Frazier; two daughters, Elizabeth Scott Frazier Bell of Blair and Barri Frazier DuPre of Blythewood; brother, John Rhett Frazier Sr of Newberry.; former wife, Grace Blair Frazier of Blair; three grandchildren, Bryan (Mary Alice) Bell of Durham, N.C., Frazier (Liz) Bell of Charlotte, N.C., and Jonathan (Dana) DuPre of Columbia, and three great grandchildren, Giuliana DuPre, Lucas Bell and Hunter Bell.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by one brother, James Blair Frazier III; son, Keith Frazier, and son-in-law David DuPre.
