COLUMBIA – The Blythewood boys cross country squad, running in the Championship Division, raced to a fifth-place finish out of 50 teams at the Coaches Classic Saturday at Sandhills.
The Bengals were led by junior Josh Bowers, who placed fourth overall in a time of 17 minutes and 10 seconds. Other top performers were Amir McCall (25th in 17:52), Caleb Wilson (28th in 17:54), Will Beacham (87th in 18:44) and Chandler Roberts (112th in 19:04).
The Bengals also competed in two JV races. In the 10th-12th grade division, Blythewood placed 17th out of 40 teams. The top finisher was David Humphries , who placed 40th in a time of 19 minutes and 18 seconds. In the 7th-9th grade division, Blythewood placed 21st out of 43 teams. The top finisher was Stephen Dauway, who finished 68th in a time of 20 minutes and 31 seconds.
The Bengals return to action on Wednesday in a race against Ridge View.
