CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Blythewood High School boys’ cross country team kicked off the 2014 season Saturday with a strong showing at the highly competitive Providence Invitational in Charlotte.
The race featured four of the top five teams in N.C., as well as the top ranked team in S.C. Blythewood placed 15th overall, which was the second highest finish among S.C. schools.
The boys were led by senior TJ Kirby, who finished 34th overall in a time of 16 minutes 52 seconds. Other top finishers included James Palmer (78th, 17:26), Brandon Hardwick (117th, 18:07), KJ Mack (127th, 18:18) and Hunter Jarvis (138th, 18:25).
The boys next return to action on Sept. 3 with a home meet against Westwood.
