WINNSBORO – A celebration of the life of Mr. Thomas Leslie Myers Jr., 74, were held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Washington Street Baptist Church, Winnsboro, S.C., conducted by the Rev. Dewitt Atkerson. The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Pope Funeral Home, 521 S. Congress St. in Winnsboro.
Tommy was born Sept. 30, 1939 in Camden, S.C. to the late Thomas Leslie Myers Sr. and Moise Evans Myers. Tommy made his final journey on Friday, May 16, 2014. Tommy worked many years for Shealy Truck Sales and retired from Newton Truck Sales. He had many friends in the trucking industry. He was a proud member of the John Bratton SCV camp.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Mrs. Bonnie Short Myers, their children Jonathan Michael Myers (Elizabeth Haney) of Chesnee, S.C., Thea Leslie Myers, Stephanie Wynne Myers Outen (Donald) of Lugoff, S.C., Johanna Lee Myers Potter (Wade) of Elgin, S.C., Thomas Jeffrey Myers of Norcross, Ga., Ralph Evans Myers of Camden, S.C., Clarence F. Branham Jr. (Lolly) and Alicia D. Branham of Winnsboro, S.C.
Tommy loved and cherished his grandchildren; Leslie, Britton (Jared), Donnie Jr. (Kayla), Ansley, Jeffrey (Brittany), Russell, Rion (Toni), Reed and Christopher.
He was especially proud of his great-grandson Samuel Myers Wigton and looking forward to the birth of his second great-grandson.
Tommy is also survived by his sisters, Betty Myers Hutchinson of Camden, S.C., Barbara Myers Lowman (Robert) of Lexington, S.C.; and his brothers, Steve Myers (Melanie) of Irmo, S.C., and Charles Myers (Barbara) of Camden, S.C.
Also surviving Tommy is his faithful canine companion, Frederick of Arrowood.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in Tommy’s memory to Washington Street Baptist Church or the charity of one’s choice.
