It was reported recently in a local newspaper that Bravo Blythewood, the cultural arts council of Blythewood, had been fined by the Secretary of State’s Office for failure to submit the paperwork necessary for the operation of a non-profit organization operating in South Carolina. As members of the Bravo Blythewood Board we can assure you that it was not the intention of our organization to ignore this re-certification.
When we became an official non-profit organization, all of the proper paperwork was submitted properly and in a timely fashion. What we did not realize was that we must update and re-file on an annual basis. After being informed of this, we began the process of gathering the proper information for submission to the Secretary of State’s office and now that has been done. The Secretary of State’s office was very helpful in the process and no fine was levied against our organization. However, we were required to pay a $200 administrative fee due to the late filing. Obviously, we have now taken steps to make sure this does not happen again and that all paperwork is completed and submitted on time.
Folks, we are a board of volunteers for a very young organization and we want to do our very best to showcase and support the arts in our wonderful town. Our efforts have been well received and our events have been very successful.
The success of Bravo Blythewood is attributable to the wonderful artisans who live in and around our community and the tremendous support from our town leaders, sponsors, patrons and donors. We take what we do very seriously and we pledge to you that in the future we will continue to celebrate the arts – and we will fill out the paperwork on time!
On behalf of the Bravo Blythewood Board,
Buddy Price
Vice Chairman
