BLYTHEWOOD — The visiting Falcons of A.C. Flora High School took on the Redhawks in this best-of-five set region match Tuesday. The teams were closely matched but Westwood had enough of an edge to defeat the Lady Falcons in straight sets.
Westwood head coach Amanda Kruysman needed the win. Before the game she said, “We have to beat them in order to remain fourth in region and make the playoffs. We need to win in three (sets). The team has been working on communication. We must communicate well, come out aggressively and dominate early on so we don’t have to play catch-up.”
The first two sets were very close. In fact, the second game went to 27 points after a bad out of bounds call by Flora and a kill by Jordan Jones gave Westwood the two point advantage needed for the win. After two sets of very even play, a tired Flora team could only score nine points in the final game, losing 25-9.
