Blythewood – Funeral services for Luke Allen Watson Jr., age 75, will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ridgeway Ward. Burial will follow in Centerville cemetery. The casket will be placed in the Relief Society Room one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Aug. 1,2013 at Pope Funeral Home, 521 S. Congress St., Winnsboro, from 6-8 p.m.
Born in Hartsville, Mr. Watson was the husband of Lanelle Peake Watson of Blythewood and the son of the late Luke Allen Watson and Beulah Tolson Watson.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Watson is survived by one son, Luke Allen Watson III and his wife Johnette of Blythewood, two daughters, LaFran W. Bennett and husband Torry of Waxaw, N.C. and Lisa W. Lykins and her husband Tally of North Vernon, Ind., and three sisters, Portia W. Ellison of St. George, Utah, Laris W. Nichols of Farmington, Utah and Scarlette W. Ange of Charlotte, N.C.
Mr. Watson was also a loving grandfather to 12 grandchildren, Brett, Brittany, Elaine, Andrew and Courtney Lykins. Brandon, Jordan and Megan Bennett. Luke, Kailey, Lawson and Kinsley Watson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Watson is predeceased by two sisters, June Davis and Gail Watson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder-day Saints, Ridgeway Ward’s Missions Fund, 1391Centerville Road, Ridgeway, S.C. 29130, the ALS Association, 1275 K Street NW, Suite 250, Washington, D.C. 20005, or the charity of one’s choice.
