Boys

The Blythewood Bengals lacrosse team split their games last week against local schools Spring Valley and Richland Northeast. The Bengals fell 17-9 at Spring Valley on Feb. 26. Despite holding the Vikings scoreless in the first quarter, Blythewood gave up 11 goals in the second half for their second loss of the season.

Blythewood goalie Tom Timms faced 38 shots throughout the contest and turned away 21 of them. Spring Valley’s goalie Connor Sears was much less busy as he dealt with only 17 shots, saving eight of them.

Five different Bengals scored, with Alexander Epps leading the way netting three goals. For the Vikings their offense was anchored by Eli Burch, who was perfect making all five of his shots on goal.

Blythewood bounced back last Friday against Richland Northeast with an 18-3 victory. The Cavaliers came up empty in the second half and were only able to muster three first half goals.

The Bengals defense was especially stout only allowing four shots on goal.

The Blythewood scoring was led by a trio of attackers including Michael Carson (five goals on seven shots), Hunter Whitfield (four goals on seven shots) and Epps (three goals on nine shots).

The Bengals are in the midst of four games on the road and won’t return home until they host the Blazer of Ridge View this Monday.

Girls

The Lady Bengals lacrosse team split their games last week as well with a tightly contested loss against Spring Valley and a win over Richland Northeast.

The Lady Vikings edged out Blythewood 12-11 on Feb. 26. Five different Spring Valley players scored, with Courtney Grooms leading the way with four goals on four shots. Abby Rausch and Devon Walter each netted three goals apiece.

The trio of Hance (six goals on nine shots), Wiseman (four goals on five shots) and Koerwer (four goals on six shots) again led the way for the Lady Bengals on offense.
