David “Pete” Samuel Blume, 79, of Blythewood, died, Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013. Born June 26, 1933 in Blythewood, he was a son of the late Elbert Blume and Gladys Carroll Blume. Mr. Blume, a U.S. Army veteran, was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Helen Blume; daughters Deloris (Lynn) Medlin of Blythewood and Cathy (Michael) Collum of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; sons Samuel (Jeannie) Blume and Terry Blume, all of Blythewood; sisters Peggy (Jim) Jeffcoat of Blythewood, Louise (Del) Tremble of Lexington and Gloria (Herb) Hobgood of Winnsboro; a brother, Larry (Geraldine) Blume of Grey Court, S.C.; grandson Dustan Medlin of Blythewood; step-granddaughters Gina Akey and Mandy Stafford; as well as four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Blume was preceded in death by a sister, Estelle Martin.
A funeral service for Mr. Blume was held at 2 o’clock, Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013 at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, with Pastor Eli Rojas officiating. Interment followed in the Johnson Family Cemetery, Mullis Road, Blythewood. The family received friends from 5 until 7 o’clock, Saturday evening at the funeral home.
