Chester struggled to hit their foul shots, making just five of 19 at the line. Jada Martin led Fairfield Central in scoring with a game high 23 points. Saturday night Martin racked up 19 points in a 61-10 win at Great Falls. Fairfield Central remains undefeated at 6-0 and will travel to Bristol, Tenn. for the Doc Maples Tournament, Dec. 19-22.
The boys’ team capped off the double header with a 53-43 win over the Cyclones. Fairfield’s Victor Alston beat the first half buzzer with a basket and the Griffins took a 28-16 lead into the locker room at the break. During halftime the Griffins football team was recognized as for their accomplishments during 2012. The trophy ceremony included a Region III-2A title and the state runner up.
During the third quarter Fairfield stretched their lead out to as much as 16 points and led 40-25 to start the fourth quarter. Halfway through the fourth quarter Chester used six straight free throws to climb to within nine but that is as close as they would get. Daniel Maple led the Griffins with 20 points including three three-pointers. On Saturday night the Griffins were able to win at Great Falls 47-42. Their next game is against Landrum on Dec. 20.
