Columbia: A memorial graveside service was held for Kathleen Blanche Porter, age 54, at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012 at First United Methodist Church Cemetery in Winnsboro conducted by the Rev. Carroll Pope. The family received friends immediately after the service.
Kathy died in her home on Oct. 1, 2012. She was born in Winnsboro on Dec. 26, 1957, the daughter of the late William B. and Maxine Hinson Porter Jr.
As a graduate of the University of South Carolina College of Nursing in 1981, Kathy was an extremely dedicated and loving nurse. Before retiring in 2010, she spent most of her career as Director of Nursing atChesterCountyHospital. She enjoyed spending time with her children, and was a wonderful mother. She was also known as a fabulous cook.
Kathy is survived by a son, Matthew Tweed Timms of Ridgeway; a daughter, Jill Timms Cox and her husband Charles of Columbia; two brothers, Johnny Porter and his wife Frances of Blair, James Neal Porter of Winnsboro; and twin sister, Becky Porter of Rock Hill.
She was predeceased by a brother, William Burnice Porter III.
Pope Funeral Home is serving the Porter family.
